Making Logos And Profiles

Logos

First thing I would like to say. We try to have some rules about logos.  Not Nazi Germany strict rules, but "please do out of respect for other players" rules.

1.  If you have a colored logo, it would be preferred that it does not contain pornographic material.

2.  If you have a colored logo and it is pornographic, it cannot contain any gay porn (lesbian is ok). But NO fags.

3.  If you have a colored logo and it is pornographic, NO fat or fugly chicks.  Please, nobody wants to see that.

4.  Pornographic logos will not be posted on our web page.

5.  Try to make a cool logo.

....And that's all.

Ok, a lot of people have been having problems with these so I've decided to write a little tutorial.  First you must know that there are two kinds of logos: colored and grayscale.  Grayscale logos are like the ones that come with half-life.  To make a grayscale logo, I found the best way is to just open up the ones that come with half-life and start editing.

Example:

Go under your logos directory. It should look like this:

By default, double clicking a bmp file opens it in Microsoft Paintbrush.  If Paint doesn't open then go to Start->Programs->Accessories->Paint.  Then go to File->Open.  You want to select a file from your logos directory.  By default it is C:\Sierra\Half-Life\logos

Select C: then select Sierra etc.  (You should know how to do this)  8-)

Just for the hell of it, I chose to edit chick1.bmp.  Don't worry it won't get rid of it, as long as you follow the directions carefully.

Click File->Save As

Change the name to a name that is not there.  For example, let's call it "joeshmow".  Now, the editing part is up to you.  I recommend totally wiping this one clean.  Use the eraser and get rid of the picture.  Any color you select to paint with will come up as gray, black, or white because it is a grayscale image.  If you are poor like me and can't afford any advanced graphics software, then you may have to rely on your skills and good ole Microsoft Paint.  Since the picture is very small, it would be best to zoom in a couple hundred percent.  After you are done editing save your work.  If the editor asks you if you want to save changes made to the original image (in this case chick1.bmp), say NO.

Now for something more elaborate.  To make colored logos you are gonna need to download the following program:

texturesdk.zip

As the brief tutorial that comes in this zip file states, your image needs to be in dimensions divisible by 16.  The smallest image supported is 16x16.  They can be any combination of dimensions as long as they are divisible by 16 and they don't have a total of greater than or equal to 12288 pixels.  To calculate how many pixels are in an image, just open up Calculator and multiply the dimensions.  Color must be 8-bit, a palette of 256 colors.  For transparencies use a color such as R:0 G:0 B:255.  (If you don't know what the hell I am talking about then don't bother making a colored logo.)  Once you've downloaded the program and have your logo ready, then it is fairly easy.  Make a folder for the program to go into.  Make a folder in that folder.  Call it "MyDecal".   Change the filename of your bmp so that it has a "{" before it.  For example, if your file was name Decal99.bmp, then change it to {Decal99.bmp.  Put this file in the MyDecal folder.  Unfortunately we have to make a couple of files.  Open up trusty ole Notepad to do this.  Open notepad and type the following lines for this file:

makels mydecal pldecal pldecal.ls
qlumpy pldecal.ls

Save the file as makewad.bat.  Create another file called pldecal.ls.  No lines to type for this one.  And that's it.  Run makewad.bat and the file that will be made is pldecal.wad.  Insert this file in your cstrike directory.  Yes, you want to replace your existing file pldecal.wad with this new one.  WARNING:  Do not go to customize menu. Otherwise you'll have to run makewad.bat again and reinsert the new pldecal.wad.

Making/Editing A Profile

We're very lenient on these.  We need a few things.

We need your age, favorite map, weapon of choice, a quote, and a picture.  An example of a good profile would be like the following:

RaBiDMuTt[pup]

Age:  13        Status:  Active, Member

Specialties:  Rusher and a sharpshooter (not a fan of camping)

Weapon Of Choice:  Colt M4al Carbine

Favorite Map:  cs_militia

Quote:  "If you're losin', don't lose lookin pathetic.

If you do not want your email posted then just say so.  We won't post it unless you ask to.

As for the pictures,... it would be cool if you would send an anime pic, but you don't have to.
